Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) are being heralded as a potential key emerging technology in the RF industry, with wide ranging implications, not just as an infrastructure level enabler for 6G, but as a tool to enhance radio propagation for many other wireless technologies, including 5G and Wireless Power Transfer.  Large scale commercial deployment may still be some way over the horizon, but pre-standardisation activity, field trials, & pilot projects are taking place in many countries already, and Horizon are tracking developments.
